Gathered berries, foliage, nuts, and vines make some of the best seasonal decorations, signaling the harvest with their mellow hues and plump fruits. This month, crab apples, foliage trees, Beauty Berry, snow berries, and wild vines are maturing, and can be harvested to create lovely fall decorations. Bring a touch of the woodland to your fall decor, both outdoors and inside, where it will put your home, and your family, in tune with the season.
Show Off Your Fall Spirit
Fall window boxes delight when they showcase the bounty of the season. Pile them high with gourds, ornamental kale, trailing greenery, and gathered bittersweet.
Galvanized pumpkins wear crowns of wild bittersweet. In many parts of the U.S., bittersweet is a pest plant, so if you find it and use it for decoration, dispose of the spent cuttings so they don’t seed in the wild.
Bring Natural Decor Indoors
Simple branches cut from your favorite foliage tree celebrate the season.
A blue and white coastal scheme sets a fall tone, using eucalyptus, berries, and gathered Lamb’s Ears.
Formal Woodland Spirit
Stately silver contrasts beautifully with earthy rose hips and vines.
Crabapple cuttings gathered from the woodland pair nicely with Indian corn and chestnuts in a formal setting.
Informal Snips and Cuttings
The usual texture of Osage oranges, or hedge apples, makes them perfect for fall decorating. Foliage and rose hips complete the look. The centerpiece above can be duplicated with Granny Smith apples, or red apple varieties, depending on the color scheme you’re creating.

Happy gathering!

I was inspired by the blog to make an arrangenent from Maple leaves, Peony leaves, American Chestnut husks, and chestnuts. I added two pillar candles with fall colors.
Donna, the pictures were so pretty, especially the chestnuts and pillar candles on your pink glass plate. So happy you were inspired!
I really enjoy this blog, Sno.
Thank you so much Donna!
