Just Do It Yourself!
Your spirits will lift every time you see this cheerful basket full of spring’s signature flower. We’re big believers in DIY projects and this one will take just minutes to assemble. For this daffodil door basket, I’m using faux flowers from Michaels and a willow basket specifically made for hanging arrangements.
What You’ll Need
Begin by selecting a container that you have on hand, or purchase one from your local garden supply or craft store. Choose one that can be reused during other seasons and will hang easily on a flat surface. Next, you need floral foam to anchor the flowers. Last, grab your gardening clippers in case the flower stems need to be cut shorter.
To make this door basket even more quick and easy, I selected floral bushes from the craft store. That way, I’ll have a full arrangement without spending more money for single stems.
Ready to Assemble!
As you can see in the picture above, I fit pieces of floral foam into the bottom of the container, kind of like a puzzle. Don’t be afraid to really cram the foam in because you’ll need a firm anchor for the stems.
I usually go for a rounded silhouette when I make floral arrangements, and with this planter, the shape echoes the rounded handle. Starting at the rear of the arrangement, sink the longest stems firmly into the foam. Work outward toward the edges of the container, making sure you press each stem firmly into the foam. It’s easy to adjust the height of each stem if you need.
Ready to Hang
If the base of the foam will be visible, cover it with floral moss. Once you have the container looking as you like, hang it with a wreath hanger or hook. You’ll enjoy this cheerful display all spring!
